Gear Profile Design T2+ It's Time to Make the Switch |
I've been using S-bend bars for over a year and I'm convinced they are more aerodynamic, more comfortable and provide better leverage and control than traditional extensions. For 2006, Profile offers the T2+ for only $89.99. At this price, no one has an excuse for continuing to use the old style extensions. Just trust me on this, buy a set of S-bend bars for your bike. While your wrists may need time to adjust to the new angle, after a few rides, you'll thank me and promise yourself to never go back.
Except for the S-bend shape, the T2+ is an ordinary aluminum extension with standard Profile armrests. The bars perform exactly like they are supposed to and the armrests are easily adjustable and very comfortable. Profile bars are a little on the heavy side but I've never had a quality issue. Those large, comfortable arm pads, though, aren't stuck on with the tackiest tape so don't expose them to 80 mph speeds when transporting them to your next race.
My racing bars are a set of Profile Carbon Xs with Bontrager carbon S-bend extensions. When building up a new racing bike for my son, who wanted the same set-up, I decided to save some money and go with the T2+ mounted on Profile's T2 Wing base bar that retails for $59.99 (see pic on right). I could not have been more pleased with both the look of the bars on the bike and their performance.
When it comes to aerobars, particularly while riding in the armrests, you really cannot tell the difference between aluminum and carbon. While the performance and weight are almost identical, the price is not. You can now get the look and performance of $500 bars for only $150.00. Seriously, it's time for you to switch to S-bend bars.
