I like Felt bikes; they are well designed, made and equipped, good looking and very reasonably priced. Every time I climb aboard a Felt, I think I'm riding a bike that cost $100's or even $1,000's more.
The F2C is definitely one of the best bikes for the dollar available today. For $2,699 you get a good looking, all carbon frameset made from very high quality Torayca high modulus T700S modular carbon. You can find many carbon framesets made from this exact same, high quality, Japanese made carbon fiber that cost as much as this entire bike! Even so, you still get quality components, if not top of the line, everywhere you look. The impressive list includes: (1) Shimano Dura Ace 10 speed shifters, derailleurs and cassette; (2) Easton/Velomax Vista SL or American Classic CR 420 wheels; (3) FSA Carbon Compact crankset; and (4) Vittoria Rubino tires. Felt also includes its house brand carbon fork and seat post, alloy bar and stem and leather covered saddle.
The only component I didn't care for are the Tektro brakes. Having gone directly from a Dura Ace 7800 equipped bike to the Tektros, I noticed a significant difference in braking power and modulation. If I were going to keep this bike and use it in fast group rides and/or races, I would definitely upgrade the brake calipers, swap the saddle (few people keep the saddle supplied with a new bike) and likely swap the tires out for some Tufo tubular clinchers (although the Vittorias have a nice ride and good grip). Please note, though, that I would swap the saddle and tires on practically every complete bike available because the right saddle is so critical to one's comfort on a bike and I have the utmost confidence in the wet and dry handling of Tufo tires.
The F2C is light, quick and comfortable with confident handling. This bike could thoroughly satisfy many different riders straight out of the box. Most of you could effectively race it on Saturday and then take a long, comfortable cruise on Sunday. No, I don't think it's a bike you would see in the Peloton, but neither are 99% of the bikers out there. If you want a bike that does everything well and is both lightweight and comfortable without breaking the bank - this is your ticket to happiness.
For those interested in using this bike in triathlons, the carbon wrapped aluminum bar is compatible with clip-on aerobars. Since the tube shapes on this frame are more aerodynamic than most road bikes and Felt includes either the Easton Vista SLs with its 30 mm deep rims or the American Classics with its even more aero 34 mm deep rims, the F2C is an excellent choice for double duty.
