We are reviewing another Hammer Nutrition product because that's what we use.  Among my favorite Hammer products is Recoverite.  Recoverite is what I drink immediately after every workout or race.  Why?  Because it’s made with the right ingredients, makes me feel better and stronger the next day and it tastes great.

Recoverite is a complete recovery drink which includes the following: (1) carbohydrates and protein in a 3:1 ratio; (2) chromium polynicotinate (for muscle glycogen synthesis); (3) I-carnosine (an antioxidant); (4) full-spectrum electrolyte profile; and (5) I-glutamine (recovery boosting amino acid).  Importantly, the carbohydrates are supplied exclusively through maltodextrin, a complex carbohydrate which is easy on your stomach and the protein is supplied by whey protein isolate which is virtually fat and lactose free.

I take 16 ounces of cool water, add two scoops of Recoverite and mix it in my blender.  The blender produces a froth on the top which is absolutely delicious.  The taste is hard to describe other than it has a certain mild sugary/citric flavor that is most unique; it's somewhat like a very mild and light citrus shake.  Anyway, I love the way it tastes and I feel better the next day after drinking it than when I don’t; it’s not huge, but it does make a difference.

What’s critical is getting your carbohydrate/protein mix in your system ASAP after workouts and races to promote muscle recovery.  Recoverite is an easy and delicious way of doing that.
